Biography

YUNA YANG Collection is a high-end fashion house rooted in refined artistry and cultural sophistication. With a signature ethos described as “classic with a modern touch—timeless yet contemporary,” the brand is distinguished by its devotion to craftsmanship, narrative elegance, and Manhattan-based production.
Launched at New York Fashion Week in Fall/Winter 2010, Yuna Yang’s debut received immediate critical acclaim, earning the coveted cover of Women’s Wear Daily with the headline “a sure winner just out of the gate.” Her sophomore collection also graced the cover, celebrated as part of WWD’s “New York’s New Wave” of visionary designers.
A native of Seoul and trained in Milan and London, Ms. Yang brings a rare synthesis of Eastern sensibility and Western haute couture to her designs. She studied Fine Art at Ewha Womans University before continuing her fashion education at Istituto Marangoni (Milan) and Central Saint Martins (London). Her early career included designing for Milan Fashion Week at Prima Classe Alviero Martini and training under Ann-Sofie Back and Clements Ribeiro in London. In 2009, she established her namesake atelier in New York City’s Fashion District, where she continues to produce each collection locally.
The YUNA YANG Collection has been embraced by discerning clientele around the world and has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, and The Wall Street Journal. The brand has also been highlighted by New York Magazine (“Nine Designers to Watch”), Manhattan Magazine (“Top 5 Newcomers”), Mojeh Dubai (“5 International Designers to Watch”), and Harper’s Bazaar Taiwan (“4 Internationally Rising Star Designers”). It is a label both critically acclaimed and commercially beloved—YUNA YANG’s 2019 New York Fashion Week collection was selected as one of the favorite collections by a Macy’s Vice President.
YUNA YANG has presented at luxury department stores worldwide, including Saks Fifth Avenue (Boston), which hosted the brand as its marquee event during Fashion’s Night Out; Umeda Hankyu (Osaka), Isetan Shinjuku (Tokyo), Lotte Avenuel (Seoul), Galleria (Seoul), and Shin Kong Mitsukoshi ,Sogo (Taiwan), further cementing its global retail presence.
Her designs have been worn by a wide array of internationally renowned figures, including Grammy award winning artist Carrie Underwood, Super Model Kendall Jenner, Carol Alt, Drama Desk Award winner Jan Maxwell, Ann Curry (Today Show), Bree Turner, Brittany Snow, Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), Julianne Hough (Dancing with Stars), Primetime Emmy Awards & Screen Actors Guild Awards winner Anna Gunn, Darby Stanchfield, Maye Musk, Son Ye-jin (lead actress in Crash Landing on You), and Song Yoon-ah (star of Jail Breakers), among many others. The brand’s presence is regularly seen on the world’s most prestigious red carpets, including the Met Gala, MTV Awards, Monaco Film Festival, Shanghai International Film Festival, and Taiwan’s Golden Bell Awards.
Beyond seasonal collections, Ms. Yang has led creative collaborations with 20th Century Fox, Wind-up records, the Shiseido Creative Center, and celebrated contemporary artists. Her work often explores meaningful themes—ranging from environmental preservation and social inclusion to personal freedom and the journey of self-discovery—through collections such as Save the Earth, Love Yourself, and You’re Beautiful.
Elegant, artistic, and deeply thoughtful, Yuna Yang’s work continues to resonate with collectors, cultural patrons, and all who view fashion as a refined expression of identity and a dialogue with the world around us.
