I’ve always felt incredibly lucky to cross paths with inspiring people throughout my life and career, and meeting Maye Musk @mayemusk was a truly memorable part of that journey. 💙

Her new book, Timeless, has just been released, and I was so honored and touched to see my name and the look I created for her for the 2016 Met Gala remembered nearly a decade later.

Maye herself inspired the design — her strength balanced by elegance, her independence by warmth and kindness. To me, she embodied a beautiful Yin & Yang: contrasting qualities existing in perfect harmony. That balance became the spirit of the design. I created the look, but the inspiration came from Maye.

My favorite part:

“[Yuna] signed on to create my look, an electric-blue pantsuit with a long lace cape… until the outfit draped perfectly and fit me like a glove — or more accurately, like a world-class custom couture outfit.”

Such a beautiful full-circle moment. Thank you, Maye, for the inspiration then and now. ✨

Maye의 새 책 Timeless가 출간되었는데, 거의 10년이 지난 지금, 제가 그녀를 위해 디자인한 2016 Met Gala 룩과 제 이름이 책 속에 담겨 있는 것을 보고 무척 감동했습니다.

그 디자인의 영감은 Maye 그 자체였습니다. 강인함 속의 우아함, 독립적인 힘과 따뜻함, 그리고 친절함. 서로 다른 매력이 아름다운 조화를 이루는 그녀의 모습은 제게 완벽한 Yin & Yang처럼 느껴졌고, 그 균형이 디자인의 정신이 되었습니다. 룩을 만든 것은 저였지만, 영감은 Maye에게서 왔습니다.

제가 가장 좋아하는 부분:

“[Yuna]는 긴 레이스 케이프가 더해진 일렉트릭 블루 팬츠 수트로 제 룩을 완성해주기로 했습니다. 여러 차례 피팅을 거쳐 의상은 완벽하게 드레이프되었고, 마치 장갑처럼 제 몸에 꼭 맞았습니다 — 더 정확히 말하자면, 세계적인 수준의 맞춤 쿠튀르 의상처럼요.”

시간이 흘러 다시 만난 참 아름다운 순간입니다. 그때도, 그리고 지금도 영감을 주는 Maye에게 감사의 마음을 전합니다. ✨
