Remembering Jan Maxwell
August 8, 2025
I was deeply saddened when I learned of Jan Maxwell’s passing on February 11, 2018, at the age of 61. Jan was not only an extraordinary talent on stage- She was a five-time Tony Award nominee and two-time Drama Desk Award winner -but also one of the kindest and most gracious people I’ve ever had the honor to meet.
I will always remember the joy of dressing her for the Opening Night of An Enemy of the People. She wore YY with such elegance, lighting up the room not only with her beauty but with her warmth and generosity toward everyone around her.
Jan’s artistry touched countless hearts, but it was her genuine kindness that left an even deeper impression. I feel grateful to have shared even a small moment in her remarkable journey.
She is missed, but her spirit and grace continue to inspire.
